As a leading retailer, Sears offers customers numerous deals every day to get the items they need. Their partnership with Citibank allows customers to take advantage of these deals with a credit account. Two primary credit accounts are offered: a standard line of credit and a platinum card.
Business accounts will be approved for the Sears Commercial One credit card. Homeowners may prefer to apply for the Home Improvement Account instead, which can only be used for certain home improvement purchases. These accounts are verified through the same online process as the primary lines of credit.
How to Activate Your Sears Card
To begin using your new Sears credit card, you will need to verify your card information. This means you will need to have your card number available, the security code on the card, and be able to input your name as it appears on your card. You will also be asked to provide the last 4 digits of the primary card holder’s Social Security Number.

Once you’ve provided the necessary information, just click on the large orange “Verify” button at the left of the page. Follow whatever instructions may be provided afterward and you’ll be able to start using your new credit card in just a few minutes.
After you’ve verified your credit card, you’ll be able to manage your Sears account online if you prefer. Creating a free online account for your Citi card will allow you to access statements, see your current balance, and know when your payment due date happens to be.
Can a Sears Card Be Activated Over the Phone?
If you do not wish to complete the online verification process above to activate your Sears card, then you will need to contact Citibank directly to activate your new card. You can reach 24/7 customer service by dialing 1 (800) 815-7701. Outside of North America, you may also call collect 1 (800) 437-3277.
As an alternative, you may also call the phone number for Citi personal credit cards at 1 (800) 347-4934. This will have you reach the Online Technical Assistance department if you are having problems with online verification. TTY assistance is also available by dialing 1 (800) 325-2865.
Business or professional cards issued under the Sears brand will need to call 1 (866) 422-3091. TTY assistance can be reached by dialing the same number for personal TTY help.
Once you’ve followed these steps, you will have successfully activated your Sears card.
